Transporter is private cloud file storage delivered in a powerful, easy to deploy appliance. For the user, the experience is just like Dropbox with all of the benefits you'd expect from a public cloud file solution, yet the data remains under your control. Choose where your data is located, who has access, how many copies there are and enjoy a level of privacy and control the public cloud can't match.
“100% private…helps businesses address compliance and regulatory requirements by giving corporate IT full control over the solution.”
"As an on-premise offering with private cloud capabilities, Connected Data's Transporter Genesis mixes the best of public cloud (ubiquitous access and sharing) with the best of on-premise offerings (privacy, redundancy, one-time pricing).”
“You are combining the best of NetApp filers and the benefits of Dropbox, but it’s private storage.”
“Think a dead-simple Dropbox, without the security issues — and a sustainable business model.”
“Connected Data is delivering a solution that can help end the on-going battle between IT and employees over the use of cloud services by giving each side exactly what it wants."
“The Transporter Genesis provides many of the same "cloud" functions, but runs entirely on-premises, so employees can share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other files with each other easily and quickly.”
“Transporter Genesis appliance for businesses provides on-premises file sync-and-share capabilities that can scale in a private cloud model.”
“The first private cloud storage platform to combine the simple file management features of a public cloud storage service with the complete information control offered by a network-attached storage"
Public cloud storage services like Box and Dropbox are designed to store everything on their infrastructure and transfer all of your data through their servers. Not only is this expensive for them to operate as evidenced by Box’s huge losses, but it also hands over control of your critical data to a 3rd party provider. This exposes sensitive information to hackers and business-critical data can be hit by frequent outages that can last for days at a time, totally beyond your control.
Transporter is designed to leverage your existing infrastructure and put you back in total control of your data. As appliances you own and deploy, Transporters can be placed in secure locations that you choose giving you 100% control over where your data is stored. Data is automatically synced across your Transporters allowing you to also control the level of redundancy to ensure continued operations in any situation.
Connected Data’s central service is used to establish secure, encrypted connections between authorized Transporters in a similar fashion to how Skype works. Once an authorized connection is established, the data and metadata are encrypted at the source using military-grade AES-256 encryption and then transferred directly from Transporter to Transporter. Your data is never stored in the cloud and private encryption keys are generated and maintained directly on the devices ensuring that no one – not even Connected Data – has access to or visibility into your data.
Another benefit of Transporter’s distributed model is it allows corporate IT to place appliances directly in locations with limited Internet bandwidth to improve performance. Getting fast Internet service at remote offices and temporary locations like construction sites can be both costly and difficult. Using public cloud services can compound this issue as they have to transfer every new or modified file over the Internet, even if it is only being shared between local employees. The Transporter range includes appliances designed specifically for small offices that are intelligent enough to handle a majority of the file transfers on the local network to reduce the Internet bandwidth used and make your remote workers more productive.
Your Data. Your Rules. Your Cloud.
